Technology should connect people — not frustrate them. NukaTek exists to make sure every older adult in Boulder County has the support they need to thrive in a digital world.
How NukaTek Came to Be
NukaTek was founded after watching too many older adults feel left behind by technology — not because they couldn't learn, but because no one had taken the time to teach them properly. The problem wasn't the people. It was the approach.
Most tech support is transactional: fix the problem, leave. But for older adults, that model doesn't build confidence — it creates dependency. We wanted to do something different. We wanted to teach.
So we built NukaTek around a single principle: every visit is an education. We don't just solve the problem in front of us. We explain what happened, why it happened, and how to handle it next time. We leave people more capable than we found them.
Why "NukaTek"
Our name and our model are both rooted in something larger than tech support.
"Nuka" is an Alaska Native word meaning strong, giant structures and living things. It comes from the Nuka System of Care — a groundbreaking healthcare model created, managed, and owned by the Southcentral Foundation in Anchorage, Alaska, built to serve Alaska Native and American Indian people.
The Nuka System reimagined healthcare around relationships, ownership, and whole-person wellbeing — not just treating problems, but building the strength and self-sufficiency of the people it serves. That philosophy resonated deeply with us.
We borrowed the spirit of that model and applied it to technology support for older adults. Like Nuka, we believe the goal isn't to fix people — it's to strengthen them. To build something lasting. To leave people more capable, more confident, and more connected than we found them.

A Note From Our Founder

My path to founding NukaTek and LevelUp Senior Tech Bridge in 2024 was shaped by decades of client-facing work, technical support, and community service — all rooted in Boulder County.
I began my technical career in 2001 at MiJenix Corp., a Boulder software company, where I was promoted from shipping to Technical Support Engineer within three months. Working remotely with clients to restore systems after crashes, viruses, and hardware failures gave me a deep, practical understanding of the Windows operating system and the patience to walk anyone through a problem — no matter how complex.
From there I moved into business development at Green Ride Boulder, a 2011 startup offering ride-share and charter services to Denver International Airport and CU Boulder. I joined as a dispatcher and driver, took over IT operations, and eventually rose to General Manager — helping grow the company from six people to a team of 28, surpassing $1 million in sales and transporting an average of 800 passengers per day.
Throughout all of it, I kept volunteering. I coached Special Olympics bowling in the mid-1990s, supported United Way fundraising, managed the Teens Inc. computer network in Nederland (earning Volunteer of the Year in 2003), and spent a decade supporting Harmony Event Medicine — an Oregon nonprofit providing medical resources at music festivals — before joining their Board of Directors in January 2025.
Those years of nonprofit work showed me both the profound impact community organizations can have and the real challenges of sustaining them. That experience, combined with everything I learned in tech support and operations, is what I bring to NukaTek every day — and what drives my aspiration to see LevelUp Senior Tech Bridge eventually incorporated into the Boulder County Area Agency on Aging, so it can achieve the reach and sustainability to realize its full community impact.

Ten percent of every dollar we earn goes to LevelUp Senior Tech Bridge, so that cost is never a barrier to getting help.

LevelUp Senior Tech Bridge
NukaTek is the for-profit arm of a larger mission. Our sister organization, LevelUp Senior Tech Bridge, is a nonprofit dedicated to providing free and deeply subsidized technology support to low-income older adults in Boulder County.
We donate 10% of every NukaTek sale directly to LevelUp. This means that every time a client books a visit with us, they're also helping fund free support for a neighbor who couldn't otherwise afford it.
The two organizations share the same values, the same technicians, and the same commitment to dignity and education. The only difference is who pays.
